I have SO MANY BONERS for this game right now.

There's a multi-tiered pledge system for anyone interested at throwing money at its development. The cheapest one is $30, and they all come with an in-game ship and a copy of the game on release, and they've said there will never be a subscription fee, or any microtransactions that sell anything you couldn't acquire in game or give anyone a "pay-to-win" type of advantage.

I told my sister that it's probably the closest we'll ever get to living Firefly. She's always going on about how if she could live in any universe, it'd be that one.

I guess it depends on the setting. And the level of cyborgness.
Ideally I'd be an Asari space pirate.

All I ask is that they make clothing optional.

Here's a presentation about the dogfighting module that's set to release this summer. One of my favorite takeaways from this is the fact that there are definitely multi-crew ships, so you and your friends can cooperatively man a ship. They also have first-person ship-boarding and takeovers planned. The cockpit HUD and UI is also just incredibly beautiful.
Be still, my throbbing wiener.

Skip to about 23:30 if you just want to see pretty pretty gameplay.
